Insights on fixed income structured products - Workshop 2018

This workshop will cover the most prevailing fixed income market instruments sold by investment banks to institutional clients and/or professional investors. It will unveil the pricing mechanisms and risk drivers behind these products as well as key documentation issues in negotiation with bankers. The workshop will also be supplemented with the corporate cases in HK & China for better illustration.

Session 1 - Unveil the structure of Swap Derivatives (3 Apr)

  • Understanding different types of swap: Plain vanilla vs structured transaction
  • How are swaps are used (include IRS & CCS)?
  • Swap valuation and pricing
  • Common non-standard swap and their risk drivers

Session 2 - Key derivatives documentation negotiated with bankers (17 Apr)

  • Basic ISDA Master Agreement structure - 3 Pillars
  • Key issues to be considered in documentation negotiation with the bankers
  • Considerations in the event of default
  • Various risk mitigation techniques commonly used by investment bankers
  • Case Studies


Trainer profile:

D Tang has over 20 years of experience in risk management and product risk analysis at various leading US and European investment and corporate banks. His product coverage ranges from trade finance to syndicated loans, derivatives and structured products, and leveraged financing for corporate (SME and corporate) banks, financial institutions and funds in Greater China and SE Asia region. D Tang is experienced in providing both internal and external training to various investment and corporate banks, government supervisory bodies, and various professional institutes. He is also an author of an investment book.
