Description
Learn to generate an integrated BI report in this webinar.
The process begins with the creation of a custom calendar table, a critical step that enables time intelligence functions such as year-to-date totals, monthly comparisons and dynamic filtering. The custom table ensures that the report has a complete and consistent date range, even when the source data might have gaps or inconsistencies in dates. Following this, the source data is uploaded into Power BI. This includes cleansing and formatting steps as needed to ensure data consistency and usability. We then generate links between a number of tables and a range of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas are developed to derive calculated columns and measures, allowing the creation of a Power BI dashboard report that is updated at the touch of a button.
Using a practical exercise and segmented into short lessons for ease of learning, this webinar will help you develop and enhance the technology skills that are important for financial professionals.
Key topics:
- Build a date table to support time intelligence functions (e.g., YTD, MTD, rolling totals)
- Import raw data from external sources (e.g., Excel, JPG)
- Clean and format the data as needed and transform it to be user friendly
- Define relationships between tables using unique keys
- Ensure the data model supports proper filtering and aggregation
- Write custom DAX formulas for KPIs, totals, YTD percentages, prior year comparisons
- Use calculated columns where row-level logic is needed
- Design visuals (charts, tables, slicers, cards) to present key insights
- Organise the layout for clarity and usability
As part of this webinar you will receive,
- Downloadable worksheets with practical tasks to embed the knowledge
- A comprehensive learning Manual
